I started my business with the intent of, in the long term, not having it rely on me.
I’d been in business before and if I took a holiday, everything in my business stopped. That equated to my income halting too!
Every business no matter how large or small should have easy to follow, precise systems. For everything in the business. From managing your finances; onboarding clients, project management etc. Everything.
I have documented systems for my business, right down to the simplest of tasks. Included in some of those tasks are Loom videos where each step is explained so that when a new staff member comes on board, the one on one training time is reduced significantly and the staff member can re-read the instructions and re-watch the videos multiple times of required.
Your business should have a written system – so that you don’t have to rely on your team while you’re on extended leave. You rely on your systems to work for you so your team can do their work well.
So you don’t have to touch your laptop while you’re away.
